Inaugural ceremony of Eco-Tales workshop

Assistant Professor at Columbia University Lydia Kallipoliti, Mayor of Thessaloniki Yiannis Boutaris, Professor at Princeton University Beatriz Colomina, Dean of Columbia GSAAP Mark Wigley, Chairman of Northern Greece Entrepreneurs Cultural Society Stavros Andreadis, Director of the Archaeological Museum Polixeni Veleni.
Northern Greece Entrepreneurs Cultural Society proudly welcomed citizens, representatives of the entrepreneurial and public life sectors, numerous professors of the academic society as well as young people at the official inaugural ceremony of the international research workshop between Columbia University and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The joint workshop aims to research and suggest ways of mild development and exploitation of the unique coastal area which stretches from the port of Thessaloniki to the 'Delta' system of Axios River. The area is protected by the Natura Network and Ramsar conditions, however has remained abandoned and extensively polluted for the past years. The workshop is initiated and sponsored by the Northern Greece Entrepreneurs Cultural Society.
The inaugural ceremony took place on Wednesday, 29 June 2011 at the crowded auditorium of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki.

“Art in public space” talk by renowned sculptor Kostas Varotsos

Internationally acclaimed sculptor Kostas Varotsos gave a lecture about "Public Space and Art" to a special event followed by dinner that was attended by many members of the Society, as well as revue subscribers and friends of the Society. The internationally acclaimed sculptor also referred to his significant public works commissioned in Europe, USA, and Asia.
Boat trip to the west coastal area of Thessaloniki

Members of the Society’s executive board accompanied by professors of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki visited by boat the unique coastal area which stretches from the port of Thessaloniki to the ‘Delta’ system of Axios River. The visit was due to the important research project which is launching this summer by the Society with the participation of Columbia University and Aristotle University.
